Renewable, water-based liquid emulsion containing the active urease inhibitor, NBPT for coating urea
Newly developed technology in Glaze Extend provides protection to the active urease inhibitor ingredient NBPT. This allows coated urea granules to be blended with acidic or phosphate based fertilisers and still reduce ammonia volatilisation after being blended for extended periods of time
Apply less. Lose less
Research shows the risk of N-loss from urea application in spring to autumn averages 18%, unless 10mm of water falls within 8 hours.
Glaze Extend reduces N-loss by 75% within the first 48hours after application and up to 50% of the total loss within the first 7 days*
Key Product Features
Non-Toxic
- Solvent Free
- Water-based Emulsion
- PH Neutral
- Emulsion is Biodegradable
- Free of dangerous NMP
Blends
- Enables coated urea to be used in blends and remain effective as a urease inhibitor product.
- Ammonia volatilisation trials have been completed with AS, DAP, MOP, MAP and SSP
Handling Benefits
- No Harsh Chemicals
- Less PPE required by operator
- Less maintenance required on coating and blending equipment
- Doesn’t flash-off any toxic gasses
- No odour
Quick Drying
- Fast spreading – enables quick and even coating on urea
- Quick drying with low curing time – Can be dispatched as coated urea immediately after manufacture
- Can be used in all fertiliser blending equipment
Logistical Benefits
- Product comes in ready-to-use liquid
- Manufactured product to be stored for extended periods of time
- Tests have shown Glaze Extend is still active on urea, 180 days after coating
Glaze Extend is available in two different formulations
Primary use is for coating Urea which will be mixed into a fertiliser blend.
It is specially formulated to reduce the ammonia volatilisation of coated urea in blends for up to 90 days
Primary use is for application into UAN or coating urea which will be applied straight, not in a fertiliser blend.
Lower-cost formulation
Independent Scientific Trials

Ammonia Volatilisation Field Trial from NBPT products and ammonium sulphate mixes – May 2021
Conclusions after 7 days:
-
- Glaze Extend product reduced ammonia volatilisation by 50% (comparison Glaze Extend vs standard urea)
- Glaze Extend in a 50:50 mix with GAS resulted in a reduction of ammonia volatilisation of 71% after 72 hours of mixing
- Glaze Extend in a 50:50 mix with GAS resulted in a reduction of ammonia volatilisation of 61% after 21 days of mixing
90-Day Blend trial
Lincoln University
Ammonia Volatilisation Trial from Mixed Glaze Extend NBPT Products – May 2023
- Glaze Extend coated urea was stored as mixes for a 90-day period with the following before conducting the field trial:
- Monoammonium Phosphate (MAP),
- Diammonium Phosphate (DAP),
- Granular Ammonium Sulphate (GAS);
- and Muriate of Potash (MOP)
- Conclusions
Despite being mixed in an acidic fertiliser blend for 90 days, Glaze Extend continued to be an effective urease inhibitor, reducing the ammonia volatilisation of coated urea.
- Glaze Extend in a 50:50 blend of MAP, DAP, GAS or MOP resulted in a reduction of ammonia volatilisation of 48-60% after 90 days of mixing
